global warming

According to new statistics, if humans do not stop polluting, a century from now our planet will not exist anymore. Statistics show that in the last seventy years the temperature has gone up 0.7%As a result, this increase is causing a lot of effects, which are causing a lot of damage to the earth. In this essay, I am going to explain three negatives effects of global warming: environmental disasters, increase of temperature, and air pollution.
Environment disasters are affecting a lot of people and processes in the world. Increase of hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones are examples of environment disasters. Several years ago, some parts in the world did not have hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones often, but now they have these disasters frequently. For instance, the summer of 2004 was a huge warming sign. An unprecedented four hurricanes hit Florida, and 10 typhoons hit in Japan. Torrential rains are another example of environmental disasters. Some cities in some countries, especial in Africa, suffer with torrential rain especially in summer. Luanda Angola is one example of this. Last year, it has suffered with a torrential rain for six hours. As a result, this city was flooded. In conclusion, these effects are causing lots of physical and economic damage to countries and if environment disasters do not stop, these conditions may worsen.
The second effect is the increase in the average temperature in the world. One of the environment disasters is the sudden change of the temperature. For example in the U.S, sometimes when is fall it look like a winter in some cities, it happened in north more than south. The U.S is not an exception; there are other countries around the world with the same or a similar problem. One of the examples of this increase is that winters are stronger in some part of the world. As an example of this in Connecticut, this winter was colder than last winter. Another example is Austin; experts say that in it is normal to have snow every four years. However, this year and last year snow in Austin. Other effects of increases of the temperature are that summer is hotter in some part of the world. Counties which are in southern hemisphere have suffered with hotter summers. For example, the normal temperature of Angola in summer is thirty-four to thirty-six degrees Celsius, but in last summer record was fourth-two degrees Celsius. These hotter summers are causing the melting of glaciers in North Pole. As another example, the Greenland sheet ice responded dramatically to global warming over the last 10,000 years than previously thought. As a result, the sea level is increasing and if the Greenland ice sheet melted completely, the sea level will rise sixty meters, enough to cover a building of twenty-story. In conclusion, this increase is causing a lot of negatives effects that could be devastating to the world.
The third effect is pollution of the air. One of the most common effects is the respiratory diseases. Almost 30% of the world population has respiratory diseases. Asthma is the most common type of respiratory diseases almost 5% of the population has asthma. Anther effect is the increase of insect vectors of disease due to the dry and pollution air. For example, malaria has almost been eradicated in some parts of Africa and Asia, now they have detected more cases. Also some insect vectors of disease became more resistant. Yet another problem is vision problems. Almost 70% of the world population has vision problems, and more or less 30% is caused by pollution of the air.  The increase of cancer is another effect. For example, cancer emerging more and more; cases of skin and lung cancer kill almost 30 million people per year, and this number is increasing because of the pollution. In conclusion, air pollution kills millions and millions of people every year.
In short, those effects are causing a lot of damage in the world, and if environmental disasters, increase of temperature and the polluting of the air do not stop; they will be dangerous for humanity.  Human will die with disease. Countries will have more damage; and world will became much more a dangerous place to live; if we do not get control over these issues in the near future.

Rio de Janeiro versus Austin

Cities around the world have many special things in common with one another. In most cities we can find a lot of similar things such as museums, monuments, and government buildings, but the differences will certainly be more. From city to city, we see differences in the way people dress, walk, and live Although Rio de Janeiro and Austin are wonderful cities, and they also have many similarities and differences. In this paragraph, I am going to explain some of the similarities and differences they have.
Rio and Austin are cities and they have many similarities.  The first similarity is that both Rio and Austin are state capitals. In addition, Rio is the only capital of Rio de Janeiro, and Austin is the capital of Texas. The second similarity is that both cities are expensive places to live. Living in Austin and in Rio, one can spend more than two thousand dollars per month. Hotels in downtown Austin are so expensive just like hotels near beaches in Rio de Janeiro. The third similarity is that not only the people who live in Austin, but also people who live in Rio, are friendly and patient. For example, when you come to these places, if you have a question, you will find a nice person to answer the question. Finally, not only Austin, but also Rio, has problems with traffic and public transportation. For example, during peak hours you will see both cities have a lot of traffic. Public transportation is poor in both cities because there are few busses and lots of people. In conclusion, these cities have a lot of similarities both in lifestyle and in types of problems.
Although Rio and Austin have some similarities, they also have differences. The first difference is the location and the language. Rio de Janeiro is in South America and Austin is in North America. In addition, Rio is in Brazil and Austin is in the U.S.A. On the one hand, in Rio people speak Portuguese. On the other hand, in Austin people speak English. The second difference is that Rio has a beach, but Austin does not have a beach. Rio is also famous for its beaches, but Austin is known for Lady Bird Lake. Austin also is famous for Sixth Street unlike Rio which is famous for its many clubs. Rio is also famous for its carnival and other wonders such as the loaf sugar monument and Christ the King monument, unlike Austin. Finally, Austin has many more colleges than Rio. However, Rio has many more interesting things to do than Austin. Both Rio and Austin have lots of differences, but they are both good places to live.
In conclusion, even though Rio  and Austin have similarities, they also have many differences that make them attractive places to live. Each city has unique charm. Living in either of these cities, one can enjoy life. Whether traveling to Rio or Austin, you are sure to have a wonderful experience!
